I'm Afraid Xanga is Dying

83.79% of my online social life is over at Facebook.com now. Another 12% is at Twitter.com, leaving not more than 4.21% split between Xanga and Myspace (does anyone use Myspace anymore? If so, why?).

The truth is ever since Xanga changed their front page to that confusing thing with a little bit of everything all over the page, who the heck wants to mess with it?

It's slow and cumbersome. Xanga was much better when it stuck to what it does best-- blogging. Too bad Xanga didn't manage to get themselves bought out by Google-- instead Google bought an even worse social networking storefront in Orkut.

So I think Xanga has to die.

From time to time I'll come back, but not because its fun and easy to use.

Perhaps Xanga should remarket itself to the Baby Boomer generation.

I'm loosing interest on Xanga too. Eric wanted me to keep it up just to have a life book for the kids, but I have lost so much time of our personal, family events now. I enjoy the social outlet of Facebook. I always wonder what's next though.

I do use myspace but only because my siblings, much younger than me, are still on it. I really dislike myspace! I love my sibs though. =)

Vic...what a thing to say!  ha-ha.  I still like Xanga...I know, I'm one of the few that still does...but I've found an interesting network of folks...through this Xanga and another one I have.  Facebook makes me want to gnaw my arm off!  I sneak a peak at The Man's every now and again and that's all I can handle....I know..I'm weird...I've become acustom to my plight..it's okay.

Was nice to see you's guy's at Seaside.

I thought I was the only one who was totally confused with Xanga's new set-up. It takes me forever to edit my "look & feel" because I can never find the link to do so. It's probably called something else these days, but since I don't blog that often- I forget in between...

The one thing I do like is the question of the day... sometimes it gives me an idea on what to write, but I do agree that a number of the features have made the site too busy and leaves you feeling less in control of your own page.

As for FB... it has quickly become a favorite to many because it has done a number of things right... including defining its niche. FB isn't so much a blogging site... it's a social site. Xanga, Blogger, Wordpress tend to be so much more effective at specifically blogging.

I stay on Xanga for the family, but I have friends-locked my blog so only a few can read it.
